In case anyone had not noticed, France vs Iceland faced in Saint Denis in the quarterfinals of Euro 2016, they are not exactly the same.

It is quite possible that on the pitch differences between French and Icelanders are much less noticeable than the gulf between the two nations, especially if the Vikings manage to maintain the level that has led them to eliminate England in the tournament.

Although comparisons are always odious, here are reasons that will kill any hint of confusion between the two countries.

Iceland has never beaten France in their 11 meetings (3E 8D). Their last game was in May 2012, which France won 3-2 after having gone 2-0.In the last two meetings between France and Iceland ten goals were scored, both ended with 3-2 French victory.

France reached the quarterfinals for the third time in a major tournament (Euro 2012, World Cup 2014 and Euro 2016), their best streak since 1996-2000.
The last time they played the semifinals was ten years ago, in the 2006 World Cup.


France has not lost in their last 16 games in a major tournament in his country, with 14 wins and two draws.
His last loss was in July 1960 in their opening match of Euro against Czechoslovakia (0-2).

The two goals scored by France in Euro 2016 have been from the penalty spot (against Romania and the Republic of Ireland).

 French is the selection that has received less shots on goal in the European Championship (three in four games).11 of the last 12 goals for France in Euro came after the break.50% of the goals of France in Europe in 2016 have been head (three of six).
